MF DOOM Told The Story Of 6ix9ine Years Ago On "Rap Snitch Knishes"

This MF DOOM song has resurfaced amid Tekashi 6ix9ine's testimony.

Countless rap songs have been made centered around the topic of snitching but there is one in particular that people have referenced on social media this week in light of Tekashi 6ix9ine's testimony against his former Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods crew — MF DOOM's "Rap Snitch Knishes."

Appearing on DOOM's 2004 album Mm..Food, "Rap Snitch Knishes" finds the enigmatic rapper and Mr. Fantastik (a frequent collaborator of DOOM's and just as enigmatic) trading bars about how rappers self-incriminate themselves by rapping about the crimes they commit. But it's the song's memorable hook that's provided by Mr. Fantastik that fans have been referencing in light of 6ix9ine's testimony.

Rap snitches, telling all their business

Sit in the court and be their own star witness

Do you see the perpetrator? Yeah, I'm right here

Fuck around, get the whole label sent up for years

Three years later, the song appeared on The Boondocks episode "Thank You for Not Snitching," where fictional rapper Ganstalicious (voiced by Yasiin Bey) confesses to a crime he committed while rapping over an instrumental of the song.

Then, in 2018, the song was referenced by MSNBC's Ari Melber when he spoke on Michael Flynn, Donald Trump‘s former National Security advisor who cooperated with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference of the 2016 election.

Now, in 2019, "Rap Snitch Knishes" has resurfaced. On Tuesday, 6ix9ine testified against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods in federal court in Manhattan. Since then, the former rapper and social media star spoke about his involvement with the gang, as well as disclosed other information ranging from Trippie Redd allegedly being a part of a gang called the Five Nine Brims and Jim Jones being a member of Nine Trey to his kidnapping that occurred last year in Brooklyn (his former confidante Anthony Ellison has been accused of the kidnapping).

Back in November, 6ix9ine had cut a deal with federal prosecutors to testify against the crew. In February, he pleaded guilty to charges stemming from his racketeering case, and admitted then in court to being a member of the gang from 2017 to 2018.

With 6ix9ine's testimony has come countless memes and jokes centered around him snitching. But some have also used the moment to reference DOOM's classic "Rap Snitch Knishes."

Amid the resurfacing of the track, Young Guru shared a video Thursday afternoon where Yasiin Bey voices his love for the MF DOOM song.

"That's easily one of the greatest shits ever," Bey says before rapping the song's hook. "That shit was hilarious."

Although 'Rap Snitch Knishes" has been the main snitching song people have been referencing, there are many others that bear mentioning.

"Fallin" — Jay-Z

"Stop Snitchin" — YG

"S.N.I.T.C.H." — Pusha-T
