The Texas rapper expresses her thoughts on her late mother, dating gossip and more in her latest interview.

Megan Thee Stallion has been experiencing one of the most successful runs the music industry has seen in quite some time. For carving out that path and garnering cult fans along the way, she recently was crowned as a cover star on Rolling Stone’s latest digital issue. In a new interview for the publication, she candidly shares her perspective on celebrity gossip, chasing her degree and what it’s been like juggling touring.

In the feature written by Charles Holmes, Megan breaks down how she is at times bothered by misogynistic celebrity gossip. “People think that if I’m hanging out with anybody, it got to be, ‘Oh, they’re having sex.’ Why can’t I just be turnt up with my friend tonight?”

She expands on this by sharing:

“I have a little anxiety, because I’m still going through the grief from losing my mother and my grandmother. Then I have to get on the internet and see these motherfuckers talking about me? That shit really be pissing me off sometimes.”

When touching on the losses of both her mother and her grandmother in 2019 she expresses: “My mama is a very strong woman. She raised me to be super strong. If I got the platform to spread positivity, I’m gonna do it.”

It’s not hard to believe that Megan turned her rough moments into what many would begin referring to as a “Hot Girl Summer.” These significant deaths also serve as inspiration behind why she is still in school despite the non-stop traveling she does for performances, shoots and more.

Elsewhere in the interview, Megan expresses that she plans to release her upcoming project Suga on May 2, her mother’s birthday. The Neptunes, SZA and Kehlani are also confirmed collaborators for the release. She actually flew down to Miami to record alongside Pharrell who nicknamed her “Megan Thee Machine” due to her tireless work ethic. “I would go in and write a song and the beat would sound one way, but by the time he gets done to it, it’s a whole new song,” she added.
