Meek Mill is Donating 6,000 Backpacks to Philadelphia Students

Meek loves the kids.

Summer is coming to an end and Meek Mill is helping the youth of Philadelphia get back on track for the start of the school year.

According to a report in TMZ, the rapper is donating 6,000 backpacks to students that are struggling fiancially in his hometown.

The donations are a part of Mill’s initiative with Puma, sports brand Fanatics, United Legwear and luxury store Milano Di Rogue.

He reportedly has already visited two schools, including his alma mater, James G. Blaine Elementary School.

Students were given the option to choose between two different bags depending on whether they’re in elementary school or high school. Elementary students’ bags will be equipped with rulers, glue sticks, and crayons, while older students will get notebooks and pens.

Meek spoke to TMZ about his memories going to school when money and resources were tight.

“Those memories stay with me and that’s why I’m committed to giving back to families in my hometown, putting smiles on kids’ faces and helping them start the school year on the right note with the right supplies,” he said.

Mill also planned to hand-deliver supplies to families as well.

Hite said. “This visit is something our students won’t soon forget and is a wonderful way to kick off the new school year.”
