Mary J. Blige Says She Doesn’t Want To Do A Verzuz

Don’t get your hopes up about Mary J.Blige appearing on Verzuz anytime soon.

Mary J. Blige has been someone fans have wanted to see on Verzuz since the online series first kicked off. Unfortunately, Blige isn’t open to the possibility of participating in one.

During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the singer was asked if she watched the battle between Brandy and Monica, which was then followed up with if she wanted to do a Verzuz herself.

“Yeah, I saw it and I loved it — but no, I don’t wanna do a Verzuz,” she said. “I don’t. I’m cool.”

Method Man, who was also present during the appearance, added that no one would be able to compete against Blige.

“Mary would kill somebody in Verzuz,” Meth said. “She’d kill somebody in Verzuz. She got way too many hits. Can’t nobody keep up.”

Fans on social media have paired Blige up against a handful of different artists when sharing who they would want her to battle on Verzuz, including Toni Braxton, Faith Evans, and Mariah Carey.

In related news, Verzuz’s next lineup will feature soul legends Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle. The last Verzuz battle was Monica vs. Brandy, and it was the most-watched Verzuz battle yet. ( Over 1.2 million viewerstuned into Verzuz‘ Instagram Live for the battle.)
