Madlib Previews Mac Miller and Thundercat Collaboration at San Diego Show

A first glimpse at Maclib and a new cut from the upcoming Bandana project.

With Bandana quickly approaching, Madlib has been building momentum on a micro-tour of cities along the West Coast. Last night, the Stones Throw selector pulled up to The Music Box in San Diego with more than the Freddie Gibbs collaboration in the bag.

According to attendees, Madlib spun a grip of unreleased tracks, including a new cut off Bandana. But more importantly, fans got audible confirmation that collaborative work with the late Mac Miller, does, in fact, exist. And this particular cut features vocals from Thundercat, raising an obvious question: is there something along the lines of a Madcat (?) project stashed away on some gnarled hard drive? In any case, Soulection's JOE KAY happened to be in the crowd, capturing a bit of the Maclib track (and a snippet of the new Bandana cut. You can watch it below.
