According to Billboard, the song ties with Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX for the “longest rule ever for a rap song by a female artist.” The song first topped the Billboard Hot 100 on September 7 and was No. 1 for six weeks until Travis Scott‘s “Highest in the Room” knocked it down.
Lizzo‘s breakout single “Truth Hurts” sits atop Billboard’s Hot 100 list for the sixth week in a row. According to the publication, her second top 40 Hot 100 track, “Good as Hell” also has jumped from No. 43 to No. 28.
“Truth Hurts” officially doubles the record for the longest Hot 100 ranking for a rap No. 1 by a solo female artist. By doing so Lizzo beat out Cardi B‘s three-week reign with “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” in October 2017. Billboard reports that Lauryn Hill‘s “Doo Wop [That Thing]” was the last other No. 1 single by a female artist for two weeks back in 1998.
Additional tracks still sitting on Billboard’s Hot 100 include “Señorita” by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello and “Ran$om” by Lil Tecca. Lizzo is currently headlining her Cuz I Love You Too tour. She recently wrapped a stop in New York City at Radio City Music Hall featuring an opening by Ari Lennox.
