Lil Wayne Finally Announces a Release Date for “Tha Carter V”

Lil Wayne on Tha Carter V: “Y’all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback.”

Lil Wayne announced he will be releasing his highly-anticipated album, Tha Carter V on his birthday, September 27th.

In a video posted to Weezy’s instagram account, the rapper address fans directly.

Message to the world, to my fans, to all my supporters, I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of Tha CV…Well, I would like for you to know that since y’all stuck with me and hung in there anyway for like the past four or five years, through all of this— y’all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback. But, on my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday.

He continued, “I always give y’all all of me, but with this album, I’m giving you more than me.”

Wayne had settled an outstanding lawsuit against his record label Cash Money in May that granted him freedom to release his project. The artist said he’d been working on the album for roughly six years.

The new album follows 2011’s Tha Carter IV, and will have the same cover artwork that was revealed in 2014.
