Lil Kim on Nicki Minaj: “I wish her the best. I’m past that and over that. At the end of the day, stop asking me about that.”
This week, Lil Kim stopped by the Real 92.3 to discuss her upcoming album and new rappers she supports, only to be asked about an assumed current rivalry with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.
When radio host Bootleg Kev asked the Queen Bee her opinion on Nicki Minaj’s upcoming album title, Queen, she responded, “Why isn’t this about Kim? If we’re gonna mention one female, we’re gonna mention them all. We need to mention them all. We need to bring everybody in and we need to give everybody love.”
She continued,“God bless her,” Kim said adding, “I wish her the best. I’m past that and over that.”
“She did what she did, and until she’s ready— hopefully God puts it on her mind to do the right thing, ’cause she knows what she did— once that happens, hopefully everybody would stop asking me. Because ya don’t do that to her.”
Kim went on to address the media’s role in covering women in hip-hop and projecting narratives onto artists.
“Every time stuff like this comes out, it’s always like, ‘Oh, why is she still talking about it?’ But you guys are the one asking me… Let each female shine,” she says. “Let’s give every girl, including ol’ girl, their own recognition. Let’s celebrate every girl in their own right.”
