Atlanta-bred rapper Lil Baby is becoming a crossover sensation. The rapper, whose real name is Dominique Jones, has released new Budweiser-sponsored FIFA World Cup anthem “This World Is Yours To Take.” The three-minute song appropriately samples 1985 hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by English pop-rock outfit Tears for Fears.
“My new track with Budweiser for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack is a special one for me. It’s about the journey we’ve all been on over the last few years and celebrating what’s next,” Jones said in a statement. When I started in music in 2017, I went all in on a dream that brought me to where I am now, and that’s what I want fans to feel when they hear the song. I hope it makes you feel like you’re walking out onto the pitch at the World Cup making moves toward your own dreams, whatever that means to you.”
The song, which will also appear on the World Cup soundtrack, comes four months following Lil Baby’s Amazon Prime documentary Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby. Also appearing in the Karam Gill-directed documentary were Drake and Young Thug, Gunna in previous footage before the two rappers were indicted on RICO charges earlier this year. in The My Turn rapper is slated to release his third studio album It’s Only Me later this year.
