Late last year, Karriem Riggins revealed that his sophomore solo record, Headnod Suite, was just around the corner. Today the Stones Throw producer and pedigreed jazz drummer has delivered on the promise, announcing that his new project will be arriving on February 24th.
The announcement arrives with another gem from the project, “4Es’J & Oddness,” delivering on the album title’s command with a swung-to-death two-parter. It follows the tropical lead-off instrumental “Bahia Dreamin’,” our first read on the next chapter in Riggins’ brimming legacy. Headnod Suite will serve as the proper sequel to his critically-praised 2012 solo debut, Alone Together (certainly worth another ear,) and is available exclusively on wax for now.
