Kamaiyah Flexes With ScHoolboy Q In New Song “Addicted To Ballin’”
Kamaiyah and ScHoolboy Q keep it West Coast on her new, DJ Mustard-produced cut, “Addicted To Ballin’,” a summer anthem.
Kamaiyah is getting the gang ready for the summertime anthem with the release of her new single, “Addicted To Ballin’,” which features Top Dawg Entertainment’s ScHoolboy Q on the track. Presented as a lyric video, “Addicted To Ballin’” uses footage from Ill Iyah’s Coachella performance, and is laced with heavy bass, which is that trademarked Oakland sound.
Building on the success of her A Good Night in the Ghetto mixtape, Kamaiyah’s Before I Wake project earned her a spot in XXL’s 2017 Freshman Class, plus a commercial appearance alongside NBA superstar LeBron James in a commercial for Sprite’s “Big Taste” campaign. Up next for the Bay Area badass will be an appearance at BET Experience in Los Angeles for the forthcoming BET Awards.
Earlier this year, Kamaiyah started things off with “Hennessy on Ice,” which featured Bookie T.
As for how the track between her and Q came together, it was something she’s been alluding to since last year. “I sent him one record originally and he wasn’t really feeling it; he was in a different vibe. So he came in and hopped on one record, and I was like, ‘Yo, play that other record.’ She left the spot only to return and Q had finished his verse.
Up next for Kamaiyah is her featureless project called Woke. She wants to release this to make up for any lost time caused by the delay of her debut studio album.
