In 2012, Jhené Aiko lost her brother Miyagi to cancer.

Throughout the years, Jhené has put the pain of losing her brother in her music. In 2014, she released "For My Brother," a song she dedicated to Miyagai. In 2015, she released the video for "Eternal Sunshine," which featured images of Miyagai.

On Wednesday, Jhené released short film called Trip. The movie is partially biographical; it features a woman mourning the death of her brother. She meets a stranger who reminds her of her brother and the two go on a journey together.

Jhené wrote and co-directed the film with Tracy Oliver, one of the masterminds behind the box office smash Girls Trip.

This is a movie, but you can hear snippets of new Jhené music throughout. Trip is promotional material for her upcoming album Trip 17.
