Made in America will be back

JAY-Z' Made in America festival isn't going anywhere.

On Monday, July 23rd, Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney announced that Made in America will stay in Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the festival's home for its entire six-year existence.

The announcement was made after Kenney and Roc Nation Chief Operating Officer Desiree Perez had a "productive" meeting.  This unexpected turn comes a couple of days after Kenney announced he wouldn't allow the festival to continue at Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It was an announcement that caught Roc Nation off guard. JAY-Z wrote a critical op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer. And Questlove, who has his own festival in Philly, criticized the decision. There were even rumors that Roc Nation was going to move the festival.

However, it's all water under the bridge. Kenney released a statement calling all of this an "unfortunate misunderstanding:"

I am greatly appreciative of everything that Made in America has done for the City of Philadelphia and I remain committed to its continued success. The Made in America festival belongs in Philadelphia — the birthplace of our country — and I'm optimistic that we can turn an unfortunate misunderstanding into a positive outcome and even stronger event. I look forward to working with Roc Nation and Live Nation, and maintaining this Philadelphia tradition for years to come.
