Janet Jackson, Janelle Monaé, The Weeknd To Headline Global Citizen Festival

Global Citizen is hosting a festival in New York City that will feature headlining performances from Janet Jackson, Janelle Monaé, The Weeknd, Cardi B, and others.

The free-ticketed event will take place on the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Shawn Mendes will also be performing while John Legend will offer a special guest performance during the event. Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness will serve as the main hosts for the event while Camren Bicondova, Cynthia ErivoDanai GuriraForest WhitakerGus KenworthyKal Penn, La La AnthonyNaomi Campbell, and Rachel Brosnahan will serve as co-hosts.

“It is invaluable to be in a position where I can use my voice to help the millions of people in need. I am honored to align myself with Global Citizen in the fight to end world poverty,” The Weeknd said.

Legend also spoke on being a part of the event, saying: “I’m proud to be supporting Global Citizen again to help focus people’s energy and attention on the issues that matter. I believe we need to look at human beings across the world as our brothers and sisters and do everything we can do to end extreme poverty to make life more livable. We are more powerful when we come together like this.”
