London-based singer James Vickery is making a splash from across the pond. The Surrey native’s 2018 appearance on COLORS has racked up an impressive 17 million views.
This week, Vickery announced the March 25 release date of new ep Overture with the release of “Spanish Rose.” Maths Times Joy and Louis Mattrs produced the track. We are proud to be premiering the video.
“Spanish Rose is a song about complete infatuation,” he told Okayplayer via email. “I was completely and utterly obsessed with every individual essence of this person at one point, this song is a testament to everything about them and all that I was feeling at the time of writing this.”
Cameron Turnbull and BRAKE Media directed and produced the video, which finds Vickery in a smoky, dimly lit room. The video’s leading lady enchants men and women alike, culminating in a scene reflecting the utter obsession Vickery spoke of.
Overture has worked with everyone from Kenny Beats, NAO, Nate Fox, and more. Stay tuned to Okayplayer for the official release. Vickery’s 2017 EP Complexion is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
