On November 30th, Illa J will release his new album, John Yancey, under the Jakarta Records umbrella. The album will be the second collabo project Illa J has done with Calvin Valentine. (Last year they released the soulful Home together.)

We premiered the first single from the album, “Toyko,” a couple of weeks ago. Now. he’s following that song with the vibrant-sounding single “Enjoy the Ride.”
For the video, we see Illa J ditch the Detroit cold and enjoy the Los Angeles sun.

The upcoming John Yancey album sees Illa J try to distance himself from his famous brother J Dilla. In a press release, Illa J said:
…for so long in my career I felt like I was tryna be me and my brother, and I’m finally at peace. I’m not J Dilla’s younger brother Illa J, I’m James’ younger brother John.
