IGBO & MonoNeon's "Dr. Tom" is a Playful, Purple-Crushed PSA [Premiere]

"This song is dedicated to capitalism."

In Brooklyn, every block has its own self-licensed medicine man. Not Curtis' bearer-of-all-societal-ill "Pusher Man," but a tenured, broadly-versed multi-disciplinarian that purveys undue optimism, cheap therapy, and discounted vacations, to undercut doctors acting as agents to a broken, pharma-fueled healthcare racket.

For IGBO, predatory coat-and-practice physicians have a name and a deceptively pleasant demeanor in the kaleidoscopic, half-animated PSA for "Dr. Tom," directed by Alexander Laird. The second single off the trio's upcoming album, Attitude (due this summer,) puts a warped tint on a playful, purple-crushed anthem, bolstered by MonoNeon's six-string wizardry and an elastic guitar and key volley.

It follows the album's ghostly, boogie-blotted lead-off, "First Impressions," and arrives just in time for the summertime revival of their Backyard Cookout event series. Last year, the monthly gathering featured performances from local heavyweights and frequent collaborators, Nick Hakim, L'Rain, and Melanie Charles.
