Freddie Gibbs and Jeezy have deadened their beef. In a segment from his recent appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, the $oul $old $eparately rapper said that he and Jeezy ran into each other at an airport where they patched things up.
“I seen Jeezy at the airport with his wife. I was wit’ my girl, and … I seen him, we shook hands and hugged and fuckin’ was just like, ‘Man, salute,’” Gibbs said. “It was just like, damn, it was a relief for both of us, I feel like. It was like a hug, we exchanged numbers and we both got on a plane and that was it. It was one of the most beautiful things ever, I think.”
Gibbs also said that the by encounter provided him with added closure.
“I been put it behind me, but I had to like … I had to see him [to really be at peace] … and then when you look back, man, that wasn’t really nothing, man,” he said. “That was fuckin’ – a music disagreement, you know what I mean? Like, I didn’t really have nothin’, you know, against Jeezy. I looked up to Jeezy. Jeezy one of my favorite rappers … I learned a lot from him. I learned really how to carry myself in this rap game by being around him.”
On Wednesday (October 5), Gibbs also posted a throwback picture of him and Jeezy.
Gibbs was previously signed to Jeezy on CTE World Records in 2011 before leaving the label one year later. Over the years, the two emcees traded shots at each other in diss songs, but on “Rabbit Vision” from $$$, Gibbs praises his former boss. On the song, he raps, “Me and Jeezy still ain’t spoke in years, but I got love for him/Could’ve talked it out, but I spoke out, I let it get to me/Showed me I could be a fuckin’ boss, best thing he did for me/I needed the growth, too immature as shit, I needed to know.”
