Listen to Hype Williams Discuss His Visuals, Inspiration & More With Red Bull Music [Livestream]
Listen live a conversation on visual music starring one of its finest architects, Hype Williams, on Red Bull Radio (May 10) at 8:00 p.m.
Red Bull Music Festival New York has kicked off in the Bronx with a conversation with Harry Belafonte this past weekend. And now, we step into the mid-’90s with an event starring one of the most dynamic music video directors period. Hype Williams is a visual artist who has given us moments of excitement and took rap videos and its iconography to new levels of maximalism.
For the young ones in attendance, Williams was responsible for amping up the music video budget with his flamboyant and daring style that made household names out of Busta Rhymes (“Woo Hah,” “Dangerous”), Missy Elliott (“The Rain,” “Sock It 2 Me”), Nas (“If I Ruled The World”), and The Notorious B.I.G. (“Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems”).
Today, May 10, the iconic director and filmmaker behind Belly sits down with Jeff “Chairman” Mao to talk about his creativity, vision, the making of some of his classic videos, thoughts on today’s video style, and more in this Red Bull Music Festival New York conversation with Hype Williams. Even if you’re not in New York City to partake, you can watch the chat unfold live as we have the livestream for your listening pleasure below.
The conversation starts at 8:00 p.m., so be sure to be here on time and enjoy all the flavors.
