The venerable selectors rally friends and former collaborators to put one up for MF DOOM with rarities from their vault.

Stretch & Bobbito scraped their crates and archives to salute the late MF DOOM last night on Apple Music Hits.

In the seventh episode of their revived radio show, the venerable selectors called on a number of fellow DOOM collaborators and friends to put one up for The Villain, sharing excerpts from unearthed interviews and spinning cuts, both classic and rare, from all eras of the legend's career. The show opens with Stretch & Bob reminiscing over DOOM (then, Zev Love X of the group KMD) being a regular in the WKCR studio when their show was just getting off the ground, stopping by with his brother Subroc to hang and occasionally freestyle during recordings. They play an early KMD appearance from 1991 as the first of several unearthed rarities from DOOM's catalog.

From there, the duo plays a handful of KMD songs, interspersed with drops and tributes from Pete Nice, Dante Ross, Lord Sear, El-P, and Kurious Jorge, before a short break. When they return, an unheard DOOM freestyle from 1997 ushers in the back third of the tribute, where another set of drops from Black Thought, Just Blaze, and Posdnuos from De La Soul, accompany some later DOOM gems and the Dangerdoom song "Mad Nice," a leftover from the collaborative album with Danger Mouse that was released in 2017 in an expanded limited edition 3xLP version of their 2005 album.

It was a heartfelt run down memory lane for all involved. And as the rap world continues to mourn the loss of an underground pioneer, you can expect plenty more to surface in the weeks and months ahead.
