Featuring rare remixes from DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, Dallas Austin, DJ Dodge and more
A few months back, D’Angelo gave word that a deluxe reissue of his classic debut, Brown Sugar, would arrive this summer.
It wasn’t until earlier this week, however, that we finally learned just what to expect. Yesterday, with the unveiling of three new remixes from the commemorative release, a track list for an expansive second disc was revealed, featuring 16 rare remixes of album cuts from DJ Premier, Erick Sermon and a host of other producers, along with unreleased vocals from Redman, AZ and Kool G Rap, as well as unheard instrumental tweaks. The reissue arrives with a 20-page booklet inked by Nelson George, who conducted one D’Angelo’s only filmed interviews between Voodoo and Black Messiah for a Red Bull Music Academy lecture that featured an appearance from Questlove.
