Trump's involvement in A$AP Rocky's Sweden case came about two weeks after the rapper was placed in detention.

A new report details how two black Donald Trump allies helped get him involved in A$AP Rocky's Sweden case, and how they're upset with the Harlem rapper because he hasn't publicly — or privately — thanked Trump yet.

In a report from Yahoo News, Darrell Scott, an Ohio pastor, and Kareem Lanier, the co-chairman of the Urban Revitalization Coaltion (a nonprofit led by Scott dedicated to promoting elements of the Trump agenda to the black community) became involved with Rocky's situation after an associated of the rapper reached out to a man named Hassan Muhammad, a "fixer" for high-profile figures in the entertainment industry. Muhammad reached out to Scott and Lanier, and through Muhammad, the two were put in touch with Rocky's manager, John Ehmann.

Ehmann was reportedly adamant about getting presidential intervention for Rocky, with Lanier recounting the manager say, "He said if the White House does not get involved, Rocky is screwed."

Scott and Lanier thought Rocky's case would appeal to Trump because he "has backed bipartisan criminal justice reform and issued pardons and interventions in individual cases."

"The president is so pro-criminal justice reform, sentencing reform ... we knew this would be something that would be right up his wheelhouse," Lanier said.

From there, Scott and Lanier said they only had one requirement upon getting involved in Rocky's case.

"The White House didn't ask for anything. There were no conditions attached, but my condition and Kareem's condition was that all I'm asking for you guys to do is say thank you," Scott recalled saying to Rocky's manager.

"If a serial killer gets Rocky out of jail, I would have no problem saying thank you to the serial killer," was Ehmann's response.

From there, Scott and Lanier got in touch with Jared Kushner, Trump's adviser and son-in-law. Kushner then "brought it to the president," who tasked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with taking on the issue.

Trump's involvement in Rocky's case became more public when he tweeted about calling the prime minister of Sweden to help resolve Rocky's case. However, tensions were also building around this time between the rapper's associates and Scott and Lanier.

Per Yahoo News:

"Scott and Lanier believed Damien Granderson, an attorney working for Rocky, was too 'nonchalant' about the news that Trump was lobbying on the rapper's behalf. Lanier said he 'snapped' at Granderson and cursed him out."

"I was like, man, you ungrateful motherf***ers, you. I can’t believe you. ... We didn’t ask you guys for nothing other than for you guys to be grateful," Lanier said. "We just want you guys to be appreciative and say thank you."

Upon Rocky being released and allowed to return to the United States, Scott and Lanier reached out to Rocky's team in hopes of receiving a thank-you but didn't. That same day, Rocky had put a post on Instagram thanking his fans for their support, but the note didn't include any mention of Trump.

Ehmann had promised the two that he would put together a Kushner-Rocky call together within "48 hours," but then the manager stopped responding to text messages from the pair.

After Rocky had been found guilty but wouldn't have to serve any prison time, he shared another post thanking his fans but didn't mention Trump.

"All he had to do was do a two-minute call to say thank you," said Scott. "Rocky hasn't even called us and said, 'Hey, man, thank you guys. I appreciate it,' in private. Just in private."
