With Superweird, the Irish hip-hop duo continues carving out its unconventional sound.

Irish hip-hop group Hare Squead finally unveils their latest EP, Superweird. On the new full-length project, the duo comprised of Lilo Blues and Tony Konstone flesh out their budding, experimental sound. In the past, their catchy releases were quite brief. In fact, their debut EP Supernormal (2016) was a bit longer than 9 minutes.

In case you’re unfamiliar, the group caught the attention of GoldLink who included a remix of their song “Herside Story” on his last album At What Cost (2017). Hare Squead typically fills its songs with airy beats and heavy drums paired with slick rhymes. Their latest single “Minor Gangsters (Gully)” arrived last week and featured a bit of a pop-inspired sound. “Baeboo” another single off the EP dropped back in February. This track is about love and what happens when both groupmates realize they’re beyond infatuated with someone.

Additional standouts on the project include “Floating” and “Wanna Luv.” Featuring Peter Xan “Floating” which is the introduction track arrives with the group’s staple, an easygoing beat and laid back rhymes. This was one song that stood out to us when we received a chance to listen to the EP ahead of its official release. “Wanna Luv” is another staple that exhibits the group and their ability to create an R&B cut without breaking a sweat.

In total, Superweird is a fusion of different genres including hip-hop, R&B and also pop. With this release, it becomes apparent that Hare Squead is continuing to carve out its distinct path in the industry.
