UPDATE: Javier Delgado, Gladys Knight's publicist, says that the singer doesn't have cancer and isn't sure what she meant by her comments while talking to WDIV.

"I'm not sure. Maybe she meant she feels her pain. But she does not have cancer," Delgado said.

Initially, Knight had said that she and Franklin shared the same disease but it seems the statement isn't true.

While in attendance for Aretha Franklin's funeral, Gladys Knight revealed that she suffers from the same illness that ultimately took Franklin's life.

While speaking with WDIV (Channel 4), Knight said that she has pancreatic cancer. However, it's unknown when the 74-year-old singer was diagnosed with the illness.

Prior to speaking with WDIV, Knight spoke with Us Weekly, where she shared her memories of Franklin but didn't disclose her illness.

"I miss her, but I didn't want her to suffer," Knight said. "I really didn't. And, you know, people could see it. She just kept driving and driving, and she knew it was a disease that would take her out, and she just kept on doing what she does best. So Aretha, safe journey."

"The Lord tells us where we are going and tells us when we are coming," Knight added. "So I'm not overly upset about (Franklin's death), and he knows how much each one of us can bear, and he calls us home with those things in mind. That's the way I feel about it, because he loves us like that."

Franklin publicly confirmed her diagnosis in late 2010 but survived pancreatic cancer for nearly eight years before she died last week.

The iconic singer's funeral is currently being streamed in her hometown Detroit, Michigan. The event has featured a number of notable appearances from people including Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Ron Isley, Chaka Khan, Ron Isley, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Tyler Perry, Smokey Robinson.
