Freddie Gibbs and Madlib cap off their stellar year by stopping by the NPR offices for a Tiny Desk set. While there, the two performed four tracks from their steller Bandana album: “Education” “Gat Damn” “Soul Right” and “Freestyle Shit.”
According to NPR, this performance took a year. Madlib wanted to do the performance with El Michels Affair, a New York-based funk and soul band. While they provided the jazzy backdrop, and Gibbs spit his relentless bars, Madlib brought a thunder tube and vintage bongos from the ’60s.
