"Fire is coming..."

Flying Lotus didn't need to perform -- or ever show his face -- at SXSW to get the annual Austin festival abuzz over whatever's incoming from the BRAINFEEDER chief. Spraypainted stencils of his name and the caption "Fire is coming..." are appearing on sidewalks around the city (see below,) leading many to believe that a follow-up to 2014's You're Dead! may finally be upon us.

Not that he's been on hiatus since. In 2017, he released his feature-length directorial debut, Kuso, and more recently, scored the films Skinflick and Perfect (directed by Steven Soderbergh.) Last year, he featured on a track from Adult Swim's Singles Series and released the expansive label compilation, BRAINFEEDER X, which hosted a new collaboration with Thundercat and BADBADNOTGOOD. And just last week, his latest production credit arrived on Shafiq Husayn's new single "Walking Round Town."

There's no word on what we can expect or when it'll arrive, but his retweet of "Fire is coming..." teaser just about confirms that it won't be too long now.
