FifthGod, Fab 5 Freddy, Radamiz, Scienze, & Kye Russoul Join Forces on New Song “Gentrification” [PREMIERE]

The first single off The Fifth Tape is finally here.

Record producer FifthGod brought hip-hop legend Fab 5 Freddy and rising New York artists Radamiz, Scienze, and Kye Russoul together for the first single off his forthcoming album, The Fifth Tape.

The 25-year-old Long Island native is committed to taking the daunting task of bridging generational gaps and making it sound good.

Fab 5 Freddy introduces the track, passing the torch to Fifth as the next curator of the culture, while Brooklyn emcee Madwiz guides listeners to the colliding worlds of a few artists lamenting their city’s changing landscapes, while simultaneously staking claim to it.

FifthGod’s debut studio album has been in the making for several years, and long-awaited in the indie NY rap scene.

The Fifth Tape is a personal project I started to help bridge the gap between various up and coming New York artists I was meeting and becoming closely acquainted with, with other MC’s in the industry who I’ve always respected and dreamed of working with,” FifthGod told Okayplayer.

“Over the years, this project grew into a movement that I would have never anticipated. A sincere and timely album to showcase my ability as a young record producer in the midst of some of the illest talent in Hip Hop right now. An homage to the culture that raised me, and to the artists who I believe deserve to be highly respected for their craft.”

Brooklyn rapper, Radamiz, who was recently signed to Pay Day Records, told Okayplayer,

As soon as Fifth sent the beat over to me I was drawn in by the mystery and depth the sonics had. Gentrification and the dynamics it brings to neighborhoods, especially my own, had been on my mind the entire time, so when I got asked to write about that topic specifically, it was a no brainer. You add Madwiz’s succinct and hilarious intro, my verse on pointing out the issues, Scienze’s verse on reclaiming ones own, Kye bringing the emotional complexity of the situation as a whole, all set up perfectly by a headnod from Fab 5 Freddy to Fifth on his efforts as a humanitarian, and you have some powerful work. An easy way to understand the depth of FifthGod as a curator and producer. Fall in love with the worlds being sewn together effortlessly yet meticulously.
