Before the second Dreamville Festival in Raleigh this weekend, J. Cole has pulled a new trick from his sleeve. On Wednesday night, the rapper went to social media to announce an inaugural label Gangsta Grillz mixtape hosted by DJ Drama.
Entitled D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, the Dreamville crew is now included in the roster of legendary Gangsta Grillz mixtapes, including fellow collaborators Lil Wayne, Jeezy and T.I., who will appear at the festival this weekend.
D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape includes contributions from label artists J. Cole, J.I.D., Ari Lennox, EarthGang, Cozz, Lute, Bas, and Omen with guest features from 2 Chainz, Young Nudy, A$AP Ferg, Sheck Wes, Kenny Mason and more.
The mixtape marks the label’s fourth collaborative effort, following Revenge of the Dreamers series which includes their 2019 Grammy-nominated album Revenge of the Dreamers III, featuring a star-studded lineup including Saba, Vince Staples, Baby Tate and more.
From April 2nd to 3rd, Dreamville Records will host their second music festival, returning to Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh. With a headlining set from J. Cole which will close the festival, the inaugural festival was last held in 2019 following the untimely passing of Nipsey Hussle.
In 2021, Tyler, the Creator recruited DJ Drama for his Grammy-nominated album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, while the producer also joined Jim Jones and Fat Joe on mixtapes We Set the Trends and What Would Big Do 2021, respectively.
Beginning at $249.99 for GA admission to both days of the festival, tickets for Dreamville Festival 2022 are still on sale.
