We haven’t yet gotten the proper DJ Premier, J. Cole collabo track. So this will have to do.
On Tuesday, DJ Premier released a remix to J. Cole’s KOD standout “1985 (Intro to “The Fall Off”).” Primo’s version of the song is dubbed as the “DJ Premier 1966 Remix,” with that representing the year the producer was born.

Primo released the track on his Soundcloud, which is ironic considering that the song is seen as J. Cole sending shots to Soundcloud rappers.
With the release of the track, Primo also put out a message about how the remix came about:
I bought J. Cole’s KOD LP as soon as it dropped with no warning to the fans; which I too am a fan. “1985” resonated with me immediately so I asked Cole if I could get the Acapella and do an underground DJ version just for fun. He sent it and I just pieced some stab samples to keep it on some boom bap shit. Here it is.
