You Can Now Stream De La Soul's "The Magic Number" on DSPs

De La Soul has officially released their 1989 3 Feet High and Rising single "The Magic Number" to streaming services.

De La Soulhas finally brought "The Magic Number" to streaming services. Over a year since the song was featured in the end credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home, "The Magic Number" makes De La Soul's first digital release from their back catalog, which is expected to come to DSPs in full on March 3.  The date also marks the 34th anniversary of the group's 1989 debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, which is being pressed as a double album, available on black, magenta and yellow vinyl.

"The Magic Number" will also be available a cassette and  7-inch single, the latter which is now sold out.

In a recent interview with Billboard, De La Soul acknowledged how fans from the late 1980s have passed their music “down to their children” while it remained off streaming platforms, as well as the significance of the group’s 1989 single “The Magic Number."

“In my DMs, a person was like, ‘Yo, after [“The Magic Number” appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home], I couldn’t find it, then my grandfather pulled out his [record] and showed me,’” Posdnuos said. “I know my age, but I still feel like I’m cool as shit, so this is weird that I could be a grandfather. [Laughs.] But it’s all coming together, and it’s great that the music that needs to be up [on streaming] will be there.”

Acquired by Reservoir Media as part of its acquisition of De La Soul's catalog on Tommy Boy Records, Reservoir will distribute the catalog via its Chrysalis Records. Led by Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Lascelles, the Chrysalis team will embark on a marketing campaign for De La Soul’s back catalog, complete with key events and activations.

"The Magic Number" is able for pre-save on services including Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.
