Pete Rock & DJ Premier To Produce Two New De La Soul Albums

The rap group's last album was 2016's And the Anonymous Nobody.

Earlier this week Pete Rock took to Twitter to share that he and DJ Premier were producing something for De La Soul and that it'd be released this year.

"DE LA SOUL PRODUCED BY PETE ROCK & DJ PREMIER COMING IN 2019 BABY!!" he tweeted. "Stay tuned."

Now, De La Soul member Maseo has confirmed what exactly the rap group, Rock and Premier have in store. Not only are they working on the follow-up to And the Anonymous Nobody together but a third installment of the Art Official Intelligence series, according to HipHopDX.

And the Anonymous Nobody was released back in 2016 and served as the rap trio's first full-length album since 2004's The Grind Date.

DJ Premier will also be touring alongside De La Soul for their "Gods of Rap Tour" with Wu-Tang Clan and Public Enemy. The tour will be taking place in the United Kingdom in May.

Wu-Tang is listed as the official headliners of the tour while DJ Premier is slated to host each evening. Wu is honoring the 25th anniversary of Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers); Public Enemy is honoring 30 years of It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, while De La Soul is honoring the 30th anniversary of 3 Feet High and Rising.

"I don't believe anything like this has been done in the UK before on this level," SJM promoter Chris Wareing told Music Week. "This tour creates a legacy, it's a moment. The groups are the biggest in their genres, they're all celebrating notable anniversaries of their biggest albums and I am led to believe this is the first time they have all been on the same bill together."
