Watch Conway The Machine Make His 'Tiny Desk' Debut At A Queens Diner

Conway The Machine serves as NPR's latest Tiny Desk performer.

Conway The Machine has made his NPR Tiny Desk debut.

The Griselda rapper brought fire to the booth — a dining booth that is — at a diner in Queens for his quarantine performance, where he proceeded to do a five-song set. Three of the songs performed were from his 2020 album From King To A GOD — "Lemon," "Front Lines" and "Anza"; the remaining two were from other projects: "OverDose" from Conway's 2018 project Everybody is F.O.O.D. 2: Eat What U Kill, and "The Cow," which will appear on Conway's Shady Records debut album, God Don't Make Mistakes.

From King To A GOD serves as Conway's latest release. The album features guest appearances from DeJ Loaf, Method Man, Freddie Gibbs, Lloyd Banks, Havoc, and more. Conway also recruited heavy hitters like DJ Premier, Havoc, Erick Sermon and Hit-Boy as well as Griselda mainstays Daringer and Beat Butcha to handle production duties. From King to a GOD is the collective’s first full-length release since the death of their longtime DJ/producer DJ Shay. Shay’s death caused Armani Caesar‘s debut project The Liz and Westside Gunn’s Shady Records debut Who Made the Sunshine to be delayed. The former was scheduled for August 21, while the latter was due August 28.

“I just hope they see the growth and maturity,” Conway said in an interview with Complex regarding the project. “That’s why I named it From King to a GOD. This is just different. This is the elevation as a man, as a lyricist, as a father, as everything. From King to a GOD. You feel me?”

Earlier this year, Conway dropped No One Mourns the Wicked, a collaborative project with Big Ghost Ltd. A month before that, he teamed up with The Alchemist to release the LULU EP.
