Chris Brown Had a Fit Over Robert Glasper Winning Best R&B Album Grammy

Robert Glasper's Black Radio III won Best R&B Album during the 2023 Grammys Premiere Ceremony, beating out Chris Brown.

Chris Brown has apologized for firing shots at Robert Glasper.

During the pre-show Premiere Ceremony on Sunday afternoon (February 5), Glasper's 2022 album Black Radio IIIwon over Brown's tenth album Breezy (Deluxe), also beating out Mary J. Blige's Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), Lucky Daye's Candydrip and PJ Morton's Watch the Sun.

Brown, 33, immediately got into his feelings via Instagram Stories, where he wrote "Who the f*ck is Robert Glasper?"

In a separate post he added, "Ima keep kicking yall ass! Respectfully."

The "Call Me Every Day" singer then shared an image of him superimposed with a harmonica, followed with a message reading "I Gotta get my skills up.. ima start playing the harmonica."

After the comments went viral, Brown deleted the messages. On Monday afternoon he posted an apology he sent Glasper, via Instagram stories.

"Congratulations my brother. I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys. You were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean. After doing my research I actually think [you're] amazing. The organization isn't doing us Blacks our due diligence. You and I should never be in the same category. Two totally different vibes and genres. So from one Black man to another congratulations. Hope you are able to feed your family for life. God bless my G."

To date, Glasper has earned five Grammy Awards and eleven nominations. His second nomination in the 2023 Grammys category Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, will be announced during the live telecast. Black Radio III featured appearances from H.E.R., Common, Ty Dolla $ign, Q-Tip, Killer Mike, Musiq Soulchild, Jennifer Hudson, Posdnous of De La Soul and more.

Brown, who's received 21 nominations throughout his career, won Best R&B Album in 2013 for his fourth studio album, F.A.M.E. Upon its release last June, Breezy debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200, followed by the One of Them Ones Tour with Lil Baby. Beginning later this month, the vocalist will embark on his Under the Influence Tour in Europe.
