Chris Brown Faces Up to 6 Months in Jail for Possession of an Exotic Monkey

A reminder to keep your exotic pets off the Gram

Yesterday, Chris Brown was charged with two misdemeanor counts relating to the possession of a capuchin monkey without a permit.

According to The Associated Press, a January Instagram post of his daughter curling up to the tiny primate finally caught up with him. California Fish and Wildlife authorities pulled Brown's pet monkey, Fiji, out of his Los Angeles home immediately, and have only just presented his charges. In his defense, Brown claimed the monkey actually belonged to a family member and the Instagram post was from a recent trip to Las Vegas. Neither alibi held up, as an arraignment has been scheduled for February 6th. If convicted, Brown faces up to six months in jail.

The charges arrive three years after completing his probation period for pleading guilty to the felony assault of Rihanna in 2009, and just months following his detainment for felony battery charges in July after a show in West Palm Beach, FL.
