Cardi B has entered new territory with a remix featuring the rapper poking fun at the global coronavirus crisis.
In a recent Instagram video that has gone viral, the “Bodak Yellow” artist can be seen screaming, “I ain’t gonna front… I’m a little scared,” she said. She also yelled, “Coronavirus, coronavirus, shit is getting real.” The clip is a direct response to the rise of positive cases of the deadly COVID-19.
“Coronavirus Remix” by DJ iMarkkeyz features Cardi’s viral moment and was shared on Apple’s iTunes on Monday. Since then it’s quickly risen to No. 18 on the iTunes U.S. songs chart and currently is No. 5 on iTunes hip-hop/rap chart.
After the track dropped Cardi took to Twitter and Instagram to share that fans should go ahead and stream the song. She tweeted, “Stream I guess.”
Taking to Instagram, she kept sharing her thoughts on the “Coronavirus Remix.” She wrote, “The fact this damn corona virus song is charting on iTunes ….Hold on ..let me hit the Dj up and Atlantic so I can’t get my damn coins.”
As the song continued to climb the charts she added the following in another post: “Damn I posted the iTunes chart 2 hours ago of this damn Corona song charting on the hip hop charts at 96 now it’s number 11 86 on the overall charts ..I’m glad yaaa having fun …..Make sure you lysol your p****y before you POP IT.”
Since the remix was garnering so much attention, one fan asked Cardi where her new music was, she responded by tweeting it was delayed because of the coronavirus epidemic.
