BROCKHAMPTON has released the remix to their single “SUGAR,” and it features a surprise guest. This time around, the band recruited Dua Lipa, Ryan Beatty, and Jon B.
It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard from the latter. In 2019, he released two singles to little fanfare: “Priceless” and “Understand,” featuring Donnell Jones.
The “SUGAR” remix is a medley of modern and 1990s R&B. Group member Bearface starts the first verse interpolating Usher’s 1997 hit “Nice and Slow.” Dua Lipa handles the first verse, then subsequently joins Ryan Beatty for the hook.
The visualizer features band member Matt Champion atop a basketball hoop, and that’s about it. Stay tuned to see if the band releases an official video.
“SUGAR” is the fifth single from the group’s Ginger album. The album peaked at number three on the United States’ Billboard 200. The track has spent seven weeks on Billboard’s charts, peaking at number 33.
Jon B released his last studio album, Comfortable Swagg in 2012. Before that, he released Helpless Romantic in 2008. The album peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s U.S. R&B charts.
Ryan Beatty’s 2012 debut Because of You topped Billboard’s US Pop Album Charts. After a five year hiatus, he released Boy in Jeans in July 2018. On January 31, the frequent BROCKHAMPTON collaborator released his latest album, Dreaming of David.
Ginger is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
