BROCKHAMPTON Has Announced They Are Splitting Up, Coachella 2022 Will Be Their Final Show

BROCKHAMPTON announced that their February 7th show at O2 Academy Brixton and their performance at Coachella 2022 will be their final two shows as a group.

After eight years, six albums, and one name change, hip-hop group BROCKHAMPTON is no more. On Friday, January 14th, the group went to Twitter and Instagram and announced that BROCKHAMPTON is taking “an indefinite hiatus as a group.”

The group said that their February 7th show at O2 Academy Brixton and their performance at Coachella 2022 will be their final two shows as a group. Outside of those shows, future tour dates are canceled.

The group also added a note of appreciation to their fans, writing:

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being on this journey with us. We would not be here without our fans. We hope we’ve been able to inspire you as much as you have us these past eight years.

Brockhampton signed off the post: “We are bonded and grateful to you for life.”

This news is not entirely surprising. Last year, after the release of Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, Kevin Abstract announced that they were releasing one more album as a group.  That album was supposed to come in 2021 (it would have been the second album the group released last year.) However that album never came and it looks like Roadrunner will be the official final album from the Texas group.

The story of BROCKHAMPTON goes back to the early 2010s. The group famously met online, after Abstract asked people on KanyeToThe if they wanted to start a group. They started as Alive Since Forever but eventually changed their name to BROCKHAMPTON. At the group’s creative height, BROCKHAMPTON featured 13 members and released a trio of independent Saturation albums. The group eventually signed to RCA.In 2018, Ameer Vann left the group after several women accused him of sexual misconduct and abuse. Soon after, the group released their most successful album, Iridescence, which peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard charts.
