Bootsy Collins Celebrates Women Of Funk In Animated 'Ladies' Night' Video

The bass extraordinaire has released the visuals for his song "Ladies' Night."

The four-minute video finds an animated Bootsy Collins venturing through outer space, as well as hanging out in laundromats and grocery stores while celebrating women of all creeds. The track, which also includes guest appearances from legendary Compton rapper MC Eiht and the BlvckSeeds creative collective, is a funky and playful ride, filled with the bouncy and smooth bass Collins has become known for throughout his career.

"Ladies' Night" comes from Collins' forthcoming 14th album, World Wide Funk. Dropping via Mascot Records, the album features Kali Uchis, Chuck D, Big Daddy KaneDoug E. Fresh, and Musiq Soulchild, as well as fellow bass maestros Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, and Manou Gallo. This serves as the artist's first album in six years (2011's Tha Funk Capital of the World).

In a press release for the album, Collins said that the release was "about teaching people how to funk for themselves so they can bring some funk to get some. We bring them hope like dope, so not one Funkateer chokes. Unity in the community is a part of this plan and when the Mothership lands there’s nothing but helping hands."

One of the more notable tracks a part of the album is a tribute to keyboardist Bernie Worrell, Collins' former Funkadelic bandmate, titled "A Salute to Bernie." Worrell passed away from cancer at the age of 72.

World Wide Funk drops October 27.
