Big Boi Says He Has Enough Never-Before-Seen OutKast Footage to Make a Docu-Series

In a recent interview on The Zane Lowe Show, Big Boi shared that he had hours of unreleased OutKast footage for a possible documentary.

The Art of Organized Noise might not be the only documentary coming out of the Dungeon Family. Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, who just released their collaborative album, The Big Sleepover, stopped by The Zane Lowe Show where they spoke with host Zane Lowe about their project. During the interview, Big Boi shared that he was sitting on a bunch of never-before-seen OutKast footage.

When Lowe asked if Big Boi gave himself the space to reflect on OutKast’s prime and respective achievements, the rapper divulged having the footage:

I just so happen to be in possession of the last OutKast tours from 1998 to 2000-whatever. Like, hours and hours and hours,” Big Boi said. “We had to watch [and] digitize the footage for, like, a month and a half. We had to sit through there and watch it. I got the greatest OutKast documentary, never sold. Locked in the vault.”

When Lowe asked if André 3000 was aware of the footage, Big Boi confirmed:

Dre knows I got it. He knew I captured it because I had the cameraman on the road with us. But I told him how dope it was, so we’re just gonna hold it for a minute, but it’s outta here, man.

Mentioning that the cameraman filmed the duo for “over ten years”, Big Boi teased that there was footage of rare OutKast performances, freestyle clips and André 3000 playing the piano. Big Boi even joked that following the birth of his youngest son, Cross Patton, there was recorded footage of the rapper carrying diapers that looked like “kilograms”.

Big Boi also said that there was enough footage for it to possibly become “a docuseries.”
