Guwop's ice-cold return, Black Thought's searing guest verse, Prince's liberated demos, and so much more.

Happy first official Friday of summer. If you're looking for a celebratory seasonal sequence, we've got you covered on that end. But this isn't that. It's Release Day, damnit. And there's whole lot to wade through. So let's jump right in.

The long-plays were few, but essential nonetheless. Gucci Mane reemerged with his 14th (?!) studio album, Delusions of Grandeur. Mark Ronson toured all pop's eras and finishes with Late Night Feelings. Prince's Originals demos have finally been freed of TIDAL exclusivity. And for the first time in a long while, EPs comprised the lion's share of notable releases, with Quinton Brock, Mach-Hommy, Benny The Butcher, ILOVEMAKONNEN, and yes, even Lil Nas X, all releasing projects that outweigh their runtime.

Singles, of course, were their own storm. 88-Keys' first transmission in over three years features a hook from Sia and the second posthumous Mac Miller verse to pop up in as many weeks. Michael Kiwanuka resurfaced with Tom Misch on a dance floor dagger. Cuco officially announced his major label debut with a beach-locked ballad. Yellow Days veiled his melancholy with slinky bass lines and a sleek hook. Wifisfuneral rattled back into the arena with a twisted trap triumph. And that's just half the script.
