New week, new heat.
Good day, good people. Release Day’s arrived with a mountain of sound to wade through and The Round-Up‘s reloaded with selections from a prestigious roster of new projects.
Topping the list of long-plays worthy of your weekend and well beyond: Flying Lotus‘ ascendant and expansive audiovisual bomb, Flamagra. There’s also Steve Lacy‘s washed-out wonder of a debut, Apollo XXI, as well as Shay Lia‘s svelt and sweet, Dangerous, project (featuring appearances from Kaytranada and BADBADNOTGOOD.)
On the singles side, there’s a fresh batch of trap-laced loosies from IDK, Denzel Curry, and Twelve’len. The beach bops are also arriving in full force: Samia leads the charge with a breezy dream-pop spectacle; Stones Throw’s Los Retros chiming in with a lustful nostalgia trip; Cuco and Jean Carter bolster a bossa groove with 808s and heartbreaks; PJ Morton updates a Gap Band classic with a modern R&B touch; and that’s just half the script.
