21 Savage has been cleared of a felony theft charge that led to his arrest last month.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the office of Liberty County District Attorney in Georgia announced to today that it rejected the felony case. The charges stem from a concert promoter’s claim that the rapper had taken his full $17,000 payment for a missed performance in September of 2016, for which a warrant was issued, but never pursued. It was only after his arrest by ICE that the felony theft by deception warrant was executed. The rapper turned himself in and was detained, but quickly released. The DA office has dismissed the charge as “a civil contract dispute.”
Though he now has no outstanding warrants, Savage’s immigration status remains unclear. Following his Super Bowl Sunday arrest by ICE for overstaying an expired visa, Savage was detained for 10 days and eventually released on a $100,000 bond.
