Yes, they actually rode horses to their performance.

Lizzo may have had an incredible flute solo during her 2019 BET Awards performance but Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus had horses.

The pair rode actual horses to one of the entrances of the Microsoft Theatre (where the awards show took place) before entering to take the stage and perform the remix to Lil Nas’ “Old Town Road.”

Lil Nas recently released his debut EP 7. The eight-track project features both the original and remix versions of “Old Town Road.”

In a previous interview with Nardwuar, Lil Nas said that Cyrus said he reminded him of Johnny Cash.

During their interview, Nardwuar gifted him a 60-year-old country song magazine and noted an image of Cash in the magazine. Lil Nas then proceeds to tell Nardwuar that Cyrus told the young artist that he reminds him of the late Nashville artist.

“Billy told me I reminded him of him,” Lil Nas said.
