Now is the time to step up if you think you have the production chops.

Last week, Rémy Martin, in partnership with Live Nation, announced season six of its Rémy Producers program. The program is looking for up-and-coming producers to compete for the chance to earn a five-song contract with SO SO Def Records. One of those five tracks will be selected by Jermaine Dupri — who will hand-select the winner — to have an artist feature.

To kick of the series, there was Q/A presented by radio personality DJ Envy, featuring Dupri, Zaytoven, and Boi-1da. All three legends talked about their extensive career.

The most interesting moment came when Dupri was asked about the most creative person he's ever worked with. According to HipHopDX, the answer was JAY-Z, mentioning how the rapper never wrote down lyrics:

I saw [Notorious] B.I.G do this before I saw Jay do it, but the way Jay did it make my mind open up to how we all do it...I feel like in Hip Hop that’s probably one of the most creative hills that I had to get over and now I can’t write them down.

Competitions for season six begin in Los Angeles where Dupri will host four finalists from the area who will showcase their beat for a chance to advance to the finale. The remaining semi-final events will be held in New York City, Chicago, and Miami from August through September. The final will take place in Atlanta.
