The Wu-Tang Clan Was Why This Rapper Hopped on a New York City Bus With A Flamethrower

Dupree G.O.D. could face reckless endangerment charges over the Wu-Tang Clan-inspired incident.

On November 8, a Brooklyn man sparked shock and awe when he jumped atop a city bus with a flamethrower. The move quickly went viral, drawing the ire of police unions and the MTA. The man, a rapper named Dupree G.O.D., was reportedly filming a music video tribute to the Wu-Tang Clan.

"We don't even need to say how absurd, dangerous and just plain stupid this was," said MTA spokesman Tim Minton. "The reckless individual who torched over the top of an occupied bus put New Yorkers, including the bus operator, in life-threatening peril."

On Tuesday, the NYPD said they were investigating the incident. "We have the utmost confidence in our detectives that this case will be solved quickly," the department tweeted.

For the record, flamethrowers are currently legal in New York. Dupree will likely face reckless endangerment charges for disrupting a moving bus.

The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on November 8 on the intersection of Franklin and Putnam avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The B26 bus held approximately 25 passengers aboard at the time.

"Wutang' music video shoot was insane," Dupree reportedly wrote on Instagram. "It was a movie. It was f---ing epic. Much everyone to all who came out. We shut Franklin Avenue down. With amazing energy. We are in this together. We the Illest. Video coming."

Though his Instagram account is now locked, Dupree's bio reads "The Flame G.O.D," and promises the 'Wu-Tang 4 Da Children" video is on the way. Dupree reportedly invited people to join him for free ice cream, t-shirts and champagne before jumping atop the bus. The flamethrower-wielding MC is no stranger to the spotlight. His YouTube channel features him a video from 2011 of him rapping in an ad for McDonald's Dollar Menu breakfast.

The Wu-Tang Clan has yet to comment on the incident.
