Will Smith has shared an official trailer for the upcoming Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special. Tears might have fallen when we watched it in its entirety.
Before viewers catch a glimpse of the cast, Smith says, “You’ve probably seen the picture. I posted it about a month ago.” He adds, “Me and the whole Fresh Prince cast. But you’re not ready for this trailer. You couldn’t be ready for this trailer. Happy Thanksgiving.”
What follows are moments that should tug at your heartstrings. The show’s cast including Tatyana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and DJ Jazzy Jeff reminisce on special moments they’d experienced together alongside Smith. During one emotional moment, Uncle Phil played by James Avery is acknowledged. The trailer also omits any belief that Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Viv won’t be appearing in the reunion, she makes an appearance towards the end.
The Fresh Prince reunion special will air on HBO Max on November 19. It’s been described as an “unscripted” yet “funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and more special surprise guests.”
Smith’s Westbrook Media is executive producing, Marcus Raboy is credited as director. In September, NBC’s Peacock ordered two seasons of the reboot. The special series is based on a viral film by Marcus Cooper.
