Coming to America will finally get the sequel it deserves. A couple of weeks ago, it was confirmed that Arsenio Hall will be reprising his role as Prince Akeem’s (Eddie Murphy) sidekick Semmi. Now there has been more casting news.

On Wednesday, August 7th, Paramount announced a bunch of additions to the Coming to America sequel, officially titled Coming 2 America. The biggest reveal is that Wesley Snipes will be joining the cast. Snipes will play General Izzi, the ruler of a nation next to Zamunda.
Also announced was that James Earl Jones will reprise his role as King Jaffe Joffer. (Jones just reprised his role as Mufasa in the new Lion King movie.) Paul Bates will return as Oha, Prince Akeem’s bodyguard, and Rick Ross will also have a part in the movie.

In Coming 2 America, Prince Akeem returns to the United States after he finds out he has a son he never knew about. The movie will be directed by Craig Brewer based on a script written by Kenya Barris.
Coming 2 America will be released on December 18, 2020.
