The episode aired in 1991.

The Simpsons is pulling one of it’s most iconic episodes.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, James L. Brooks, co-creator and executive producer of the iconic show, says he’s pulling the Michael Jackson episode — “Stark Raving Dad” — from syndication, after the release of HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary.

“It Feels clearly the only choice to make,” Brooks told the publication.

The episode, which originally aired in 1991, is centered around Leon Kompowsky (voiced by Michael Jackson), a man in a mental institution who truly thinks he is Michael Jackson.

The episode culminated with one of the most iconic songs in the show’s history: “Lisa It’s Your Birthday.”

Brooks, with the other creators Matt Groening and Al Jean, made the decision after watching Leaving Neverland, the documentary in which two men, Wade Robson and James Dafechuck, explain, in great detail, how Jackson allegedly sexually abused them as children.

“This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain,” Brooks told The Wall Street Journal.
