The first official trailer for Sony’s Tom Hardy-starring Venom is out and we want to know what you think about it.

Yes, the hype train is in full swing for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which had its first screening last night and will be in theaters all over this Friday, but that doesn’t mean the House of M is only stopping there. Last night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony debuted the official trailer for its own web-head badass, Venom, which stars Tom Hardy in the title role.

This marks just the second look at footage from the film, following an earlier teaser Sony released in February. That clip didn’t show Venom at all, which many fans and critics found strange and a little against the point of the whole thing. But now, you can clearly see the symbiote take over Tom Hardy at one point in the trailer, and our thoughts drift back to a little movie called Spider-Man 3.

Today’s CGI has come a long way, but for some reason, Venom still doesn’t look as imposing or scary as his comic book counterpart. Making things a bit more intriguing is the fact that while Venom is a part of Sony’s “Spider-Verse,” the character’s arch-nemesis, Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) will not be featured in the film. In fact, none of the MCU characters (Iron Man, Captain America, etc.) will make an appearance in the film and vice versa.
