Michael B. Jordan has released the long-awaited trailer for his directorial debut Creed III. Starring Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country, The Last Black Man In San Francisco, The Harder They Fall) Creed protagonist Adonis “Donnie” Creed (Jordan) is pit against childhood friend Damian (Majors).
“I spent the last seven years of my life living out my wildest dreams,” Donnie says at the beginning of the trailer. “Bianca. Rocky. My dad. I stood on their shoulders.”
Damian returns from an eighteen-year bid in prison, first friendly with his old friend, but then revealing that he wants to reclaim the boxing glory from Donnie.
“Imagine spending half your life in a cell watching somebody else live your life,” Damian yells during a confrontation with Donnie. “I’m coming for everything.”
Also in the film are Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris and Florian Munteanu, who portrayed Donnie’s opponent in 2018 film Creed II.
On Monday (October 17), Jordan spoke during a press conference about stepping behind the camera for Creed III. His longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler directed the film series’ first installment, while Steven Caple Jr. directed Creed II.
“For me it was the perfect time, growing up on set and in the industry for over 20 years, starting out doing background work and extra work and just kind of just seeing the sets evolve, seeing everybody’s job, seeing how a real production storytelling took place, I finally got to this place in my career where I wanted to tell a story and not just be in front of the camera, not just execute somebody else’s vision,” Jordan said.
Creed III premieres on March 3, 2023. Watch the official trailer below.
